He is my biggest fan and the biggest supporter I could ever ask for. I am truly blessed everyday for this man that God gracelessly gave me to be my husband.
Here is our back story...
Nick and I met in college. I decided to go back to school because I was in a dark place in my life. I was in a relationship that was not healthy. I was dating someone I can't even call a man...because a man would not do the things this person did. He was someone who made me feel I was never good enough. Never skinny enough (and keep in mind I was a size 6, 130 lbs!), never smart, never pretty enough --- just never enough. I guess you could say I had, had enough. I had enough of being his part-time girlfriend and his verbal punching bag. I new if things were going to change I had to do it myself.
So I enrolled in college...again. But this time for something completely different. I was working as a Dental Assistant but I was interested in Physical Therapy. And in one special class there was this guy and his name would be Nick.
No, we didn't just meet and live happily ever after...this is not the movies! Nick is two years younger than I am. So at the time we were on different levels in our life I guess you could say. He was interested in dating this young (19 year old) blonde named Sam (which by the way we are all still friends and she was even a guest at our wedding...it can be done people). After a month (or two) of dating Nick realized that Sam was not on his wave length. Sam never wanted to get married or have kids. In-fact she still isn't or doesn't. Her and her boyfriend Jason have been happily dating for the past ten years!
But by this time Nick and I had formed a friendship. And sometimes you don't want to "rock the boat" in-case things don't work out. So neither one of us acted. The class we had together had now come to an end. Nick and I would not meet again until Sam's going away get together. She was off to California! That night Sam told me that she felt Nick and I would make a great couple. I didn't think much of it...I after all was still with the above loser (or should I say on another "break). But a slow song came on and Nick pulled me to dance...and a kiss!
That kiss is what would start it all. Is was soft and passionate. It was like there was no one was around us. This mans kiss can take me to another world. And it still does 15 years later!
We would later find out just how much we had in common! Ill save all that for another post :))
