The ink is dried and the first game has been played. So I guess I am free to shout it to the world that my cousin Brandon is now a Philadelphia Eagle!
We are a football family --- don't get me wrong we enjoy a baseball game now and then. After all I have two boys that play the game. There is something about football that our family enjoys watching more. Maybe its the wings (which my husband's by the way are the BOMB!!!), the cold beer, the smell of Fall in the air, the fact that we don't like the same teams (more about below). But I think it has to do more with the fact that we enjoy watching our cousin, nephew to my step-dad, son to his momma Aunt Chelle or grandson to our sweet Granny.
Brandon was drafted in 2012. And the day was crazy to begin with. We all sat around the TV with hope of Brandon getting drafted early. Hopes because Brandon was NOT invited to the combine. So the chances of him being drafted before the 5th round were slim. However, so many people had been picked to be drafted in the 2nd round. The 2nd round had come and gone with one more round for the evening. No one was really paying attention when we hear NUMBER 56 OUT OF MIAMI OHIO ----BRANDON BROOKS! **don't mind the poor video --- taken with an IPhone and very shaky hands :(((**
I was so proud of him and of course still am!
But now Brandon is off to bigger and better things! He is off to be an Eagle --- a Philadelphia Eagle! I can't wait to see him on the field and super excited they don't play my Packers this season...EKKKK!!!!
Our family is divided when it comes to football. My step-father is a Bears through and through. My mother is a Viking (being from Iowa most are. ME, PACKERS baby --- GREEN AND GOLD! One sister is/was a Cowboy --- I think it has to do with Romo (who we watched play a lot while in high school, Since he's from Burlington and we are from Racine). And the baby sis is a Raiders fan (WHAT???!!!!)
But we can and WILL always rally behind Brandon and what ever team is playing for.
Brandon has such a great head on his shoulders. While in Houston he went back to college to pursue his Masters in business. He knows he won't be a football player for ever and to have a back up plan. Aunt Chelle raised him well :)!
Wishing Brandon and all his team mates a great season!
What team(s) are you hope make it to Superbowl 2017??
