My answer to my clients is the same as what I am going to tell you.
First of all congratulations....but now enjoy this time the two of you can have together! I tell my clients to take a few days...sometimes even a few weeks to just enjoy being engaged. Planning a wedding will bring out the stress in everyone. Weather it is about money, family, friends, flowers, cake, venue and everything in between.
I know ladies (most) you have been wanting to get that perfect venue booked...like yesterday. But trust me you will thank me later.
To some couples, choosing a date will be as easy as 1.2.3....for others it takes a bit more planning.
Example if you are a seasonal worker you might not want to choose a date during your busy season at work. A college student is not going to want to get married during their finals week. Take these next few days to really think about your wedding date. It is after all a date that you are going to celebrate every year for the rest of your lives.
After you have narrowed down a date (or even two), ask family members especially those you are thinking of having in your bridal party. You would hate for your best friend since grade school to miss what is the biggest day in your life because she booked a cruse to Italy!
But Melissa, you tell me that it is our day and that we are planning a day that is a reflection us. AND YES! That is so very true! I understand and AGREE that the day is about the two of you. And YES picking your date is completely up to the two of you.
My advice is just that...advice. I guide my clients...not make the decisions for them. I like to think of myself as their voice of reason. I know planning a wedding is also very exciting. I was also one who went out and bought every wedding magazine...monthly. I too was on the Knot. I am thankful Pinterest wasn't around...I think we would have be in more trouble...LOL
This is why I say take a few days to just "relax" as much as you can. As brides (and grooms) we get so caught up in the planning process because after all it is FUN as well! But sometimes we forget we about what is important...the marriage of two people who are telling their love story to their family and friends.
